Attributions are inferences that people draw about the causes of events, others’ behavior, and their own behavior.

Internal attributions ascribe the causes of behavior to personal dispositions, traits, abilities, and feelings (because of me). Ex: I got an A on the test because I studied hard and I’m smart.

External attributions ascribe the causes of behavior to situational demands and environmental constraints (because of something or someone else). Ex: I failed the test because the questions were confusing and the teacher didnt teach the material well.
