Assignment 2: Patient Education for a Special Population
Description:
This module’s focus is on assessing special patient populations. For this assignment, you will select either a pediatric, pregnant, or elderly patient and construct a patient education flyer to address how to decrease health risks in this section of the population. You may recall a personal or professional experience related to the population chosen (e.g., environmental risk factor, living environment risk factor, drug use, alcohol use, lifestyle choices) and draw upon it to develop a brief case study.
Tasks:
- Select either a pediatric, pregnant, or elderly patient and provide a description of the person’s situation (based on your past experience or a fictional situation).
- Identify the major health risks associated with the patient.
- Describe the most important evidence-based interventions to reduce the risk factors in order to promote health.
- Develop an attractive flyer that incorporates the patient’s literacy level and addresses reduction of risk factors to promote health incorporating additional patient education resources.

- Support your findings with examples and scholarly references. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
