Part I:

Read and respond to questions to demonstrate your understand of, and ability to apply, the concepts of visionary leadership.

First, review the following article (provided in the link below or in the pages that follow these directions):

Mason, R. C. (1991). Positive, Visionary Leadership: An Organization’s Most Successful Component. Adult Learning, 3(3), 7-13.

Second, answer the following questions:

  1. Why would activities become “meaningless” without a positive, visionary leader?
  2. How can a leader’s positive vision affect a society’s agendas?

For Part I of your well-written paper, the following requirements should be met:

  • Maximum 2 pages in length
  • Formatted according to APA Standards. Please visit the CSULB Style Manual andCitation Methods
  • Contain a minimum of two scholarly sources, at least one of which is not provided in, or linked from, the course. The CSULB Library is a great place to find these scholarly sources!

Write clearly and logically, as you will be graded on content, analysis, and your adherence to the tenets of good academic writing, which should be succinct where possible while also exploring the topics appropriately. Remember that you can always improve your work by providing support from outside scholarly sources, which help both to bolster your own assertions and supplement your ideas.

Part II:

Complete the Leadership Vision Questionnaire (Northouse, 2018) and respond to questions to demonstrate your understanding of visionary leaders and self-reflection of your ability to cast a vision.

First, complete and score the Leadership Vision Questionnaire (provided in this document following these directions):

Second, answer the following questions:

  1. Based on your score on the Leadership Vision Questionnaire, how do you assess your ability to create a vision for a group. Identify specific ways you could improve your abilities to create and carry out visions with others.
  2. Stephen Covey (1991) contended that effective leaders “begin with the end in mind.” These leaders have a deep understanding of their own goals and mission in life. How would you describe your own values and purpose in life? In what way is your leadership influenced by these values?
  3. If you were asked to teach this course, “Hospitality Strategic Management and Leadership,” what would you incorporate as an instructor? What would your vision be for the course? What would you change?

For Part II of your well-written paper, the following requirements should be met:
