discuss how a newer entrepreneurial venture might differ from a more mature, intrapreneurial venture in its approach to social media.

Key Assignment Final Draft

Part 1 Tasks

Write a paper of 1,500 words that responds to the following:

  • Discuss how Web 2.0 and social media have altered the way in which entrepreneurial and small businesses do the following:
    • Engage their existing customers
    • Attract new customers
    • Listen to employee and customer feedback
    • Respond to crises
  • Provide current examples.
  • Apply Kirton’s adaptation-innovation theory to discuss how a newer entrepreneurial venture might differ from a more mature, intrapreneurial venture in its approach to social media.

Part 2 Tasks

According to Byers, Kist, and Sutton’s article titled “Characteristics of the Entrepreneur: Social Creatures, Not Solo Heroes,” entrepreneurs are inherently social people (1997). This article explains why entrepreneurs are highly social by nature. In an article titled “Who’s Most Likely to go it Alone?,” Alessandra Bianchi offers a set of characteristics that predispose people toward entrepreneurship (1993). These characteristics, for example, come from life experiences such as being the child of an entrepreneur, being fired from multiple jobs, or being either an immigrant or the child of an immigrant.

With these readings in mind, complete the following in a paper of 4 pages:

  • Profile the founder of a well-known company, and focus on that person’s social characteristics.
  • Include references to the characteristics found in the Bianchi article, and align the characteristics with the founder’s personality.

explain the relationship between measurement reliability and measurement validity

Discussion: Sampling and Collecting Quantitative and Qualitative Data

It is often not possible or practical to study an entire population, so researchers draw samples from which they make inferences about a population of interest. In quantitative research, where generalization to a population is typically valued, a researcher’s ability to make such inferences is only as good as the sampling strategy she or he uses to obtain the sample. Once an appropriate sample has been obtained, data collection should involve valid and reliable measures to ensure confidence in the results, as well as the ability to generalize the research outcomes. Although generalization is typically not a goal in qualitative research, sampling is just as important in qualitative and mixed methods research, as is obtaining reliable and valid results. Indeed, for quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research, sampling strategies and accurate data collection methods are critical aspects of the research process.

Specific methods of data collection (e.g., surveys, interviews, observations) produce specific types of data that will answer particular research questions, but not others; so here too, as covered in previous weeks, the research questions inform how the data will be obtained.  Furthermore, the method used to collect the data may impact the reliability and the validity of that data.

For this Discussion, you will first consider sampling strategies. Then, you will turn your attention to data collection methods, including their strengths, limitations, and ethical implications. Last, you will consider measurement reliability and validity in the context of your discipline.

With these thoughts in mind, if your last name starts with A through L, use Position A. If your last name starts with M through Z, use Position B.

Position A: Probability sampling represents the best strategy for selecting research participants.

Position B: Nonprobability (or purposive) sampling represents the best strategy for selecting research participants.

By Day 4

Post a restatement of your assigned position on sampling strategies. Defend your position with examples and support from the scholarly literature. Next, select a data collection method and briefly explain its strengths and limitations. Then, identify a potential ethical issue with this method and describe a strategy to address it. Last, explain the relationship between measurement reliability and measurement validity using an example from your discipline.

Discussion: Cognitive and Language Delays and Disorders

Throughout many weeks of the course, you explored theories that provide explanations for typical development. They focus on explaining the similarities—within a range—among humans in language and cognitive development. It is obvious from anecdotal experience that not all individuals develop in the same ways. Some have exceptional intelligence in a certain domain but a relative weakness in another. Other children may have a condition such as hearing impairment or speech disorder that affects language development but not cognitive development. Your course text presents several of the most common conditions that have implications for both. These include intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorders, and Down syndrome, which are often diagnosed in childhood. For families with these conditions, they of course continue to be concerns throughout the lifespan. As well, there are conditions that appear as humans age. Acquired brain injury, neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s, or stroke may cause exceptionalities to normal cognitive performance in adulthood and especially later in life.

The body of research on characteristics, causes, and ways to treat these disorders continues to grow at an extraordinarily fast rate. For this Discussion, you will select a delay or disorder that affects language or cognition. You then will research the topic to identify its contributing factors and characteristics, as well as empirically supported strategies that could be implemented with individuals who have the delay or disorder.

To prepare:

· Review this week’s Learning Resources, considering atypical language and cognitive development broadly.

· Select one language or cognitive delay or disorder (e.g., Down syndrome, specific language impairment, language aphasia, dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism spectrum disorder).

· Search the Walden Library for peer-reviewed articles related to the delay or disorder you selected.

With these thoughts in mind:

By Day 4

Post an explanation of the delay or disorder you selected, including two contributing factors and two characteristics of the delay or disorder. Explain two strategies that could be used to provide support to individuals who have this delay or disorder and/or their caregivers.

Note: Put the name of the delay or disorder you selected in the title of your post.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the Learning Resources. Use proper APA format and citations.

Access the Psych Central Personality Test

You are to complete this assignment as follows:

Access the Psych Central Personality Test: http://psychcentral.com/personality-test/start.php

Navigate to Quizzes then scroll down to Personality. Take the test by answering the questions as honestly as possible.  Upon completion, find your comprehensive personality report on the five personality traits and reflect upon the positive aspects of your relationship with each trait.  Choose the most positive information in the report and reflect upon how that trait is a personal strength that you possess.

To begin your essay, state and highlight or indicate in italics or bold your positive Trait.  It is notnecessary to define the trait or reiterate the description of it from your results.

Now, describe your reaction in the following ways:  How does this trait represent who you are as a person? Were you surprised by the results?  How does this trait act as a personal strength, and in what ways do you find having it important and helpful to your quality of life?  Aside from the test results, what other character strength(s) do you feel you have, and how are they important or helpful in reference to your psychological well-being?  Some examples include leadership, gratitude, spirituality, bravery, honesty, justice, perseverance, appreciation of beauty, wisdom, etc. You will want to address the answers to these questions clearly and completely as this is 25% of your grade on the essay.

Next, explain how you can apply this personality trait / strength or your other strengths to the important areas of your life such as work, school, relationships, play, and/or parenting.  You may even wish to use your strengths in a way that you have not done before and report on that.  Again, please provide a thorough discussion, as this part is also worth another 25% of your grade on the essay.

What are the ethical principles and implications raised by legally mandating clients into treatment?

Week 3 – Discussion 1

No unread replies.No replies.

Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Refer to the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric under the Settings icon above for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

The Ethics of Mandated Treatment

Prior to beginning work on this discussion forum, be certain to have read all the required resources for this week. The use of mandated, or legally coerced, treatment is widespread. Yet research demonstrating the efficacy of this type of treatment is limited, and mandating mental health treatment is one of the most contested issues in the field of psychology. To justify the continued use of mandated treatment, policymakers, practitioners, and researchers are obligated to demonstrate the effectiveness and limitations of such treatment programs.

You have been called in to consult on cases that may require mandated treatment. After reviewing the PSY699 The ethics of mandated treatment scenarios (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site., File is attached choose two to discuss in your initial post. Begin your research with the required resources for this week. Using the specific situations presented in each of the scenarios you have chosen, conduct further research to help inform your recommendations for each individual. A minimum of one resource per scenario, beyond those already required for the assignment, must be included in your initial post.

In your post, construct clear and concise arguments using evidence-based psychological concepts and theories to present your recommendations as to whether or not treatment should be mandated for the individuals in each of the scenarios. As you write your recommendations, be certain to provide insights into the following questions.

  • What are the ethical principles and implications raised by legally mandating clients into treatment?
  • What evidence exists regarding the effectiveness of treatment with and without coercion for this type of situation?
  • What would be the challenges in evaluating the effectiveness of mandated treatment?
  • How might mandated treatment impact your clinical decision making as the mental health professional assigned to these cases?
  • What client factors might limit or augment the potential benefits of treatment if it were mandated?

Integrating concepts from your research and the required readings, offer insights across different content domains as to why you have reached these conclusions. Explain how you used the APA Ethical Code of Conduct to guide your decisions. Evaluate the generalizability of your specific research findings to the situations presented and provide a rationale as to why this research supports your recommendations.

describe whether or not it is justifiable in this situation to render a diagnosis in order to obtain a third party payment.

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, review Standard 9: Assessment  (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. in the APA’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct and DSM-5.

It is recommended that you read Chapters 4, 7, and 10 in the Sommers-Flanagan and Sommers-Flanagan (2015) e-book, Clinical Interviewing, as well as the Kielbasa, Pomerantz, Krohn, and Sullivan (2004) “How Does Clients’ Method of Payment Influence Psychologists’ Diagnostic Decisions?” and the Pomerantz and Segrist (2006) “The Influence of Payment Method on Psychologists’ Diagnostic Decisions Regarding Minimally Impaired Clients” articles for further information about how payment method influences the assessment and diagnosis process.

For this discussion, you will assume the role of a clinical or counseling psychologist and diagnose a hypothetical client.  Begin by reviewing the PSY650 Week Two Case Studies document and select one of the clients to diagnose.

In your initial post, compare the assessments typically used by clinical and counseling psychologists, and explain which assessment techniques (e.g., tests, surveys, interviews, client records, observational data) you might use to aid in your diagnosis of your selected client. Describe any additional information you would need to help formulate your diagnosis, and propose specific questions you might ask the client in order to obtain this information from him or her. Identify which theoretical orientation you would use with this client and explain how this orientation might influence the assessment and/or diagnostic process. Using the DSM-5 manual, propose a diagnosis for the client in the chosen case study.

Analyze the case and your agency’s required timeline for diagnosing from an ethical perspective. Considering the amount of information you currently have for your client, explain whether or not it is ethical to render a diagnosis within the required timeframe. Evaluate the case and describe whether or not it is justifiable in this situation to render a diagnosis in order to obtain a third party payment.
