This week you read about gendered media in the textbook, but we have been practicing media analyses throughout the whole semester so far. Choose a television program or film (we will refer to these as ‘texts’) of which you are a fan. Briefly describe the genre and basic characters. Then, describe one aspect of the show you consider to be gendered. Next, choose a passage from the text (2-3+ sentences) that either describes or contradicts an aspect of the text you selected. Make sure to explain the connection you see. Alternatively, you could describe your favorite social media platform, and then go through the same analysis – ie. describe the platform, describe an aspect of the platform that you consider to be gendered, then choose a passage from the text that describes or contradicts the social media platform you chose.
