Week 4 Guidelines for Music Project

1. Students will select a song that appeals to them. The song must be free of profanity and vulgarity.

2. Students will provide a link to the song, if possible.

Students will write a one-two page doubled-spaced paper using MLA format to explain and inform about the following aspects of the song:

A. Name the title of the song.

B. Provide the name of the artist that is singing the song.

C. Discuss the form of the song – for example which category of music is the song classified as: classical, jazz, pop, or one of their sub-forms? See the chapter on music in your textbook.

D. Focus on one of the basic elements by which the song is put together. You may discuss the song’s sound, rhythm, melody, harmony, tonality, texture, or musical form.

E. Discuss how the music stimulates the senses or makes the listener feel.

F. Is there a message found in this song? If so, discuss it.

G. Why did you choose this particular song?
